As complex as the nervous system is, this aspect is quite simple. Much like an extra lane on a highway the spinal cord has extra capacity to communicate signals to and from the brain. We've found a way to send signals to the brain that elicit a beneficial behavioral response. What's better is this stimulation is a painless vibratory massage. Who doesn't like a massage every now and then?
This excess nerve capacity goes directly into the part of the brain that drives activity. More signals to the activity center of the brain increases physical activity. With feed and water readily available the cows actively eat and drink more when they get up. By programming these signals to happen when your cows most need to replenish their nutritional and energy stores we are able to help your cows adopt the behaviors that will make them more healthy and productive.
As the calf grows in size it forces the mother's digestive capacity to make room. This 30% reduction in digestive capacity at freshening is the apex issue; one that starts a chain reaction to subsequent issues that may be more visible. The earlier apex issues are addressed the less impact follow on issues will have. By getting cows to eat more we help them involute their rumens back to normal faster, thereby limiting the affects of the Apex issue.
As the body's most powerful recovery and defense mechanism, the cow's Immune System should be empowered with the as much nutritious fuel as possible. By increasing the intake of nutrients, early stage subclinical issues can be handled naturally, well before any clinical diagnosis or prescription are required. Increased consumption also lessens the conversion of fat and muscle that lead to metabolic issues like Ketosis. By solving these health issues that would normally add drag on the animals feed conversion rate we not only make the cows more healthy but efficient and profitable.
The math is quite simple. More raw materials and less drag help our milk factories quickly kick into overdrive. Days to Peak Milk and Peak Milk Weight are both functions of this new paradigm of increased consumption and conversion rate efficiency. Solving health issues early also lessens the frequency and severity of health issues later in lactation that may cause dips in Sustained Milk. Earlier and higher highs followed by fewer or shallower dips in later production have a big impact on full lactation milk numbers.
With nutrients and energy prioritized for body maintenance, recovery, growth, and milk production before reproduction it helps when cows are eating more than previous lactations. Cows simply have more energy and nutrients at their disposal when it comes time to cycle again. Heat detection and first service conception rates become easier to accomplish when cows are healthy and well nourished.
"It doesn't just work on fresh cows it works on sick animals or cows just off feed. And I'm very excited to work with the Barciks, the veterinarian, and technology folks, and Its very exciting to finally see something that I didn't know was going to work or not but the damn thing works really good."
“What we did was we created a way to use equipment to make behavioral change turn into physiological change to get rid of physical symptoms and it worked. Now we've worked on this for 20 years. We have taken our time to make sure we have gotten it right. So time has not been the issue. Getting it right has been the issue… and we're at that point now."
“You get them to eat more early it- 1) Lowers the negative energy balance 2) gets them up and going better 3) Increased milk gland production 4) Increased secretory glands 5) Larger more volume to the rumen 6) Once you stretch out the rumen the increased volume continued through the whole lactation. We got em over the stress of freshening.. We are doing a better job of addressing the negative energy balance at the beginning of the lactation. This here device is all about addressing the negative energy balance"
“You keep her eating you keep her healthy. If she's got mastitis or coloform. Long as she keeps eating, she'll get over it. That’s the main key if you keep em eating, they'll be healthy. It’s like BST but they took it off the market. It's like that without the injections and no drug residue. If it's the boss he'll be interested in the milk production, but for me it's the health of the cow. I get paid to keep the cows healthy. That's what I like about it… keep her eating and keep her healthy."
It’s as easy as repeating steps 1-2-3
After each 3 week use, remove and recharge for the next cow.
It is as easy as clean cow, apply adhesive, attach, plug-in and walk away.
Watch your cows eat during the programmed stimulation times and measure the results in your milk management system.

With More Energy Consumed Overall And Less Of A Percentage Being Diverted To Fight Health Problems, Where Does That Energy Go?
With Milk Production Maxing Out, Where Does The Excess Energy Go?
With More Healthy, Productive and Reproductive Cows How Will This Impact Your Dairy’s Bottom Line?
Fresh Cow Manager painlessly stimulates a specific part of the tail with a massaging vibration that sends a signal to their brain that encourages them to get up. With feed and water readily available the cows naturally start eating and drinking more. Simple isn’t it? What’s better is we program the timing of these extra meals to fit your farm’s milking schedule.
Nearly 6 years of collaboration between professionals in Veterinary Science, Dairy, Behavioral Science, High Tech, and Manufacturing has resulted in this offering.
Dr. David Barcik, the inventor, was familiar with decades old animal behavior research and had been kicking an idea around with his friend and Dairyman Johnny Legg. Sadly a family tragedy brought his son R.T., the high tech entrepreneur, back home from Australia with time on his hands. With the goal of building something positive out of the loss, the three joined forces with developer Dr. David Paskewitz, veterinarian Dr. Kerry McGehee, and herdsman Jeremy Setters to develop this patented new technology. Along the way they’ve had a great time working together, sharing countless laughs and learning from each other.
We are building a culture of “crowd sourcing development”. By this we mean all contributions are not only welcome but valued in the evolution of this new frontier. All aspects of the free trial and business for that matter are designed to foster collaboration amongst increasing numbers of people regardless of location.
The devices are inserted into a sleeve that is adhered to the cow using an agricultural adhesive called Kamar. (Make sure to watch the application video here)
For fresh cows it is recommended that the devices stay on the cows for the first 21 days post freshening. Other use cases may require less time, but know a full charge will last longer than 21 days.
We like to think of Fresh Cow Manager like duct tape… When was the last time you used duct tape to tape a duct? Once you see for yourself how cows using the Fresh Cow Manager get up and eat, you’ll start to see uses as plentiful as duct tape.
The units are made up of a controller and a tail unit, both of which can be used over and over again on cow after cow. Each use requires a single use sleeve and Kamar glue. It is recommended that when applying the Kamar that disposable rubber gloves and a spreader are used to work the Kamar into the cow's hair. Prior to attaching the Fresh Cow Manager loose hair and debris needs to be brushed off so a curry brush is a good thing to have on hand.
